Bert Verbruggen
Biography
After finishing his masters degree in physics and astrophysics at the VUB, Bert Verbruggen worked as an IT analyst and application architect for 5 years. In September 2018 he was happy to return to university as a teaching assistant. In this position he combines a love for teaching math to first-year students in applied economics and his interdisciplinary research.
Starting from his physics background Bert works with Machine learning techniques to unravel the dynamics within artificial systems, mainly focussing on artificial neural networks. On a parallel track he empirically studies educational methods and their application within a classroom environment.
Outside the classroom you can most likely catch him reading (non-) fiction books or practicing sports like bouldering, swimming and gymnastics.
