Vincent Ginis
Biography
Vincent Ginis is an assistant professor of Mathematics within the department BUTO at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research group explores the borderlands between data analysis, physics, information theory, and complex systems. This research is closely intertwined with the AI Lab and the Applied Physics research group. In addition, Vincent is a visiting professor at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. In 2017, he became a member of the Young Academy of Belgium, for which he served as a copresident between 2019 and 2021. Here, Vincent has broadened his academic interests to include educational innovation, open science, research evaluation, and, more generally, the structure, interpretation, and communication of layered knowledge. He wants to contribute to greater academic awareness about the power of (algorithmic) feedback loops and Goodhart's law.
